Coach’s Driving Academy is a certified Third Party Tester authorized by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) to administer the official Road Skills Test (RST) for Class D and E driver’s licenses.
What’s Included:
- The test is conducted using a Coach’s Driving Academy vehicle on a route approved by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
- Our vehicles are equipped with dual brakes and other safety features required by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
- The test fee includes one attempt and the use of our vehicle. Note: We do not allow testing in personal vehicles for safety and compliance reasons.
Who Can Test With Us?
You do not need to be a former student of Coach’s Driving Academy to schedule your Road Skills Test with us. All eligible applicants are welcome!
Important Guidelines:
- Location: All Road Skills Tests are conducted on-site at Coach’s Driving Academy. We do not offer pick-up or drop-off services.
- Footwear: Please wear appropriate shoes—no flip-flops, high heels, Crocs, or shower shoes. Stable, closed-toe shoes are required for safety.
- Non-Refundable Fee: The Road Skills Test fee is non-refundable, with no exceptions.

Age 16
- Must bring Learner’s Permit
- Applicant must have Learner’s Permit a minimum of 180 full days (You may test on the 181st day). Check issue date on Learner’s Permit!
- Primary Parent/Legal Guardian must be present at time of testing to sign required documents
- Primary Parent/Legal Guardian must present Drivers License/ID to prove identity
- All Road Skills Tests are done at Coach’s Driving Academy, we do not pick up/drop off applicants
Age 17
- Must bring Learner’s Permit
- Primary Parent/Legal Guardian must be present at time of testing to sign required documents
- Primary Parent/Legal Guardian must present Drivers License/ID to prove identity
- All Road Skills Tests are done at Coach’s Driving Academy, we do not pick up/drop off applicants
Age 18 and above
- Must bring Learner’s Permit or
- Must bring Certificate of Completion from an approved Louisiana Driver Education School and Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP card)
- All Road Skills Tests are done at Coach’s Driving Academy, we do not pick up/drop off applicants
Our Road Skills Test is designed to assess your ability to perform driving skills safely. Some items that you will be tested on are:
- Starting/Backing Out
- Parking
- Yielding/Stopping Abilities
- Intersections
- Lane Changes
- Left and right turns
- Stop Signs
- Attention/Distraction
You must have a passing score of at least 80% to earn the Certificate of Completion for Road Skills Test. The following conditions or actions are a few of the items that will earn an Automatic failure:
- Speeding
- Incomplete stop at stop sign
- Not obeying instructions or directives
- Run a red light
- Cause an accident that is your fault or cause an incident
- The instructor having to use the Dual Brake during the test or intervene in your driving
