TEMPORARY INSTRUCTION PERMIT (TIP Card) INFORMATION

Anyone (regardless of age) attending a driving school in the State of Louisiana must obtain the TIP card prior to attending Day 1 of any class. This rule applies to both the 38 Hour Teen Driving course and the 14 Hour Adult course. Effective 09/04/2018, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles implemented the Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP).

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PARENTS: If your child is attending the 38 hour teen course, the TIP card can only be obtained by  going to the DMV with your child, you cannot go on their behalf.
