TIP CARD REQUIREMENT FOR ANYONE ATTENDING A DRIVERS ED CLASS:  Prior to attending your Driver’s Education class, a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) must be obtained from the Office of Motor Vehicles.  This rule applies to anyone in the State of Louisiana (regardless of age) that wishes to obtain a Drivers License, both Teens and Adults.

NOTICE: While we strive to complete the 8-hour behind-the-wheel instructional drives as quickly as possible, we are required by the Louisiana OMV to complete your instructional drives within 90 days. If you need a license NOW or AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (within a few weeks), we cannot make that guarantee. It could take up to 90 days to complete your training. 

ALL DMV LOCATIONS ARE NOW BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and you will be turned away from the DMV if you show up without an appointment.  You may make an appointment by visiting the Louisiana OMV website at https://www.expresslane.org/Pages/default.aspx.  You will find the most up-to-date information on DMV locations that are open, accepted documents, etc.  Please do not delay in going to the DMV and waiting until the last minute. Appointments are several days to weeks out with scheduling. You may schedule an appointment online ahead of time.  When you visit the DMV website, look for "Book Appointment" and follow the prompts to select a DMV location. You will want to make an appointment for a "First Time Drivers License/ID" to get the TIP card.

We can reschedule you to the next available class if your plans change and you are no longer able to attend the class you registered for (due to a schedule conflict, if you were unable to get the TIP card, work conflict, or for any other reason).  You must give a 72 Hour WRITTEN NOTICE to [email protected] with your request and the date you wish to change your class to. PHONE CALLS AND TEXTS MESSAGES are not accepted.  If we do not get this request within 72 hours of your class start date, your deposit will be forfeited. NO EXCEPTIONS.

**Registration may be done only online so that we can keep an accurate count of who has registered. Spots are limited in each class and once we reach capacity, registration will close. 

 This course is required by all individuals 18 or over who currently do not hold a valid drivers license. The 14 hour course includes 6 hours of classroom learning (including the written exam) and 8 hours of required instructional driver training. The instructional driver training is divided into four (4) two hour lessons. Your drives will be scheduled with you while you are in your classroom, for future dates and times after class ends.

Note: Please arrive at least 15 minutes early on the first day of class in order to complete all required legal paperwork. 

All deposits are Non-refundable & Non-transferable.  Deposit will be deducted from final payment.  Classroom instruction, all course-related tests, and Instructional drives must be completed within six months of registering for a specific class date. Refunds, for any reason, are not given once classroom instruction has started.

We offer Driver's Education classes in the English language only. Student must be fluent in both written and verbal English. Coach's Driving Academy maintains the right to determine if a student's English comprehension is sufficient in order to take complete both the classroom portion & instructional drives. 

Behavior that is disrupting or a distraction to other students and/or instructors will result in the guilty party being dismissed from class. Students dismissed from class will forfeit the entire class fee with no refunds given.
